The Merchant of Venice (ARKANGEL)

In Shakespeare’s most controversial play, the opposing values of justice and mercy collide. Antonio, portrayed by Bill Nighy, promises money to his friend Bassanio, played by Julian Rhind-Tutt, to woo Portia. He borrows the sum from the cruel Shylock, who demands a dreadful penalty if the loan is not repaid.

The enchanting world of Portia’s Belmont features some of Shakespeare’s most lyrical love poetry, yet the dark shadow of Shylock looms as the story builds toward its courtroom climax. Portia is brought to life by Hadyn Gwynne, while the character of Shylock is portrayed by Trevor Peacock. Experience the unique performances in this rich audiobook adaptation.
